Wacom released their compact PL-400 in 1998 aimed at both professional and home users alike. It features an integrated flat-screen LCD monitor with the excellent Wacom pressure-sensitive drawing surface. This eliminated the disconnect between the pen movement and the display giving the artist much more control over their lines. It featured a menu strip at the top of the tablet, which was activated by the pen rather than touch, and offered various pen options, including airbrush and inking pens.
